What the Work at Height Regulations actually require, and how to plan and carry out work at height safely. Work at height means anywhere a person could be injured by falling - above or below ground level.

- Industry hazards and responsibilities when working at height
- Defining work at height, and who the duties apply to
- The hazards of working above ground level and how they are controlled
- The main causes of accidents - inadequate scaffolding, missing edge protection, unprotected openings, unsuitable ladders and hoists
- Planning and organising work at height, and competence requirements
- Assessing risk and selecting the right work equipment
- Controlling the risk from fragile surfaces
- Inspection and maintenance of equipment
- Setting up exclusion zones, proximity hazards and means of escape
- Fall restraint and fall arrest systems, and the rest of the PPE
- Rescue planning and emergency procedures
Assessment & certification
Theory and practical assessment on the final day. Successful candidates are registered with the awarding body and issued the relevant card or certificate.
