A short, practical route to ECITB certification for slinging and moving engineering loads. This is an assessment rather than a taught course: you demonstrate what you already do on the tools, and leave with the certificate.
Who it's for
Working riggers, steel erectors, fitters and offshore personnel who move loads and need ECITB certification to evidence it — and employers verifying a crew's competence before mobilising to site.
What's covered
- Selecting slings, shackles and lifting accessories for the load
- Assessing load weight, centre of gravity and sling angles
- Pre-use inspection and rejecting defective gear
- Rigging and moving the load under control
- Communication and signalling throughout the lift
- Working to LOLER and the site safe system of work
Assessment & certification
Four hours in total: a 25-minute online knowledge test of ten multiple-choice questions, then a three-hour practical assessment. The pass mark is 80%. Successful candidates receive an ECITB Certificate of Achievement, valid for 36 months. Fail the knowledge test and you can retake it the same day; a practical retest is booked separately. All equipment is provided.
