TAP01 Appointed Person — Moving Loads

ECITB Rigging & Lifting

The ECITB technical test that validates an appointed person's competence to plan and control moving loads operations — stage three of the four-stage ECITB competence model.

Who it's for

Experienced riggers, steel erectors and supervisors who already plan lifts, and anyone holding ECITB APML certification who now needs the technical test to complete the competence model.

What's covered

  • Producing a lift plan for a complex rigging operation
  • Writing a risk assessment specific to that operation
  • Delivering a toolbox talk to brief the lifting team
  • Selecting equipment and configurations appropriate to the load
  • Carrying out the operation to your own plan
  • Demonstrating compliance with ECITB standards and lifting regulations

Assessment & certification

Half a day, four hours in total: a multiple-choice knowledge test at an 80% pass mark, then a practical assessment in which you produce a lift plan and risk assessment and deliver a toolbox talk. Successful candidates receive an ECITB TAP01 certificate, valid for 36 months under the ECITB four-stage competence model.
