Warehouse operators using very narrow aisle trucks, and those converting from counterbalance or reach trucks.

- Industry hazards and the operator's responsibilities
- Legislation - HASAWA, PUWER, LOLER and ACOP L117
- The manufacturer's handbook and the capacity plate
- Machine components - mast, carriage, fork arms, jockey wheels and safety systems
- Steering, driving and braking controls
- Pre-operational checks, including evacuation equipment on man-up machines
- Mounting and dismounting, and securing gates and rails
- Configuring for travel and manoeuvring laden and unladen
- Lateral and longitudinal stability
- Rail and wire guidance systems, and aligning on entry to the aisle
- Safety checks in the aisle - debris, standing water, pedestrians and protruding pallets
- Load centres, capacity de-rating and the SEMA racking code
- Stacking and de-stacking at ground, eye and high level
- Working at height in the cab, and remote emergency lowering
- Loading and unloading external transport
- Attachments and their effect on capacity
- End of shift, parking and shutdown
Assessment & certification
Theory and practical assessment on the final day. Successful candidates are registered with the awarding body and issued the relevant card or certificate.
