Rigging Upskill 2026: Bowtec trains the next generation of riggers for the Nuclear sector

Bowtec trainers and Rigging Upskill 2026 learners with the Bowtec, Hinkley Point C and EDF Energy delivery partner banner.

Rigging Upskill 2026 has drawn to a close, and it is our biggest programme delivered yet for the NNB and MEH Alliance, training riggers for Hinkley Point C, the largest construction project in Europe.

As NNB’s preferred rigging training partner, and the UK’s leading rigging training provider for the energy sector, Bowtec Training Services is proud to have delivered the programme alongside Hinkley Point C and EDF Energy, training the next generation of riggers for nuclear new build.

Six weeks of real rigging

Over six weeks, learners worked through practical rigging challenges, real site scenarios and the calculations behind safe lifting. The programme runs to the ECITB Rigger Reskill standards: nine training standards, each assessed by a knowledge test and, for the lifting standards, a practical assessment on the rig.

Learner feedback drives everything we do

One thing that sets Bowtec apart is our level of training, and that quality is always reflected in our learners’ feedback. We review it and build on it.

“Trainer was very effective. Learnt a lot.” (Rigging Upskill 2026 learner)

Our rigging and mechanical programmes are industry-leading in the UK. Feedback like this is hugely rewarding for every member of our team, and for the learners themselves, who engaged well throughout.

Hinkley Point C, Sizewell C and Wylfa: building the rigging workforce for UK nuclear

Hinkley Point C is only the start. The same standards, assessment routes and delivery model carry straight across to Sizewell C, where we are focused on the future development of rigging skills for the next phase of nuclear new build, and to the new nuclear programme at Wylfa on Anglesey. Whatever the site, nuclear new build runs to documented, assured competence, and we are building the rigging workforce to deliver it.
