Leading a Team Safely (LaTS)

The CCNSG Leading a Team Safely (LaTS) course is a one-day workshop designed to introduce supervisory and managerial personnel to effective team management within the context of health and safety in the engineering construction industry. This course builds upon the foundational knowledge provided by the CCNSG Safety Passport, focusing on leadership essentials to enhance workplace safety and efficiency.

Course Objectives

After completing the "Leading a Team Safely" course, you'll be able to:​

  • Identify and manage workplace hazards: You'll learn how to spot things that could be dangerous and know how to fix them to keep everyone safe.

  • Communicate safety information effectively: You'll be able to explain safety rules clearly so everyone understands what they need to do.

  • Encourage teamwork for safety: You'll learn how to help your team work together safely, looking out for each other.

  • Understand your safety responsibilities: You'll know what you need to do to follow the rules and keep your workplace safe.

  • Maintain composure in safety situations: You'll learn how to stay calm and focused, even when things get tricky, so you can make good decisions about safety.

Other Information

  • Eligibility: Participants must hold a current CCNSG Safety Passport to enroll in this course.

  • Certification Validity: The CCNSG LaTS certification remains valid as long as the participant's CCNSG Safety Passport is active.

  • Course Content: The workshop covers strategies for working safely with others, effective communication techniques, team leadership skills, guidelines for achieving safe outcomes, self-management techniques, awareness of health and safety responsibilities, and problem-solving strategies in the workplace.
